Kanajar, May 27: Mr. H. Gopal Bhandary, Ex-MLA from Karkala is also known as Mr. Moily's protégé. Mr. Moily, Ex-Chief Minister of Karnataka, also represented this constituency from 1972 to 1999. Mr. Bhandary enjoys a good reputation in his constituency devoid of any controversy. He is highly credited for a number of developmental projects undertaken by him, including the construction of a mini Vidhana Soudha and several bridges, commissioning of drinking water and power supply schemes etc. In 2004 Assembly elections Mr. Bhandary lost to Mr. Sunil Kumar (BJP), the then State convener of Bajrang Dal.
