Who has not heard of these famous sports companies of the world - PUMA & ADIDAS.? Almost everyone.

But did you ever knew these were started by two brothers?.....

Adi & Rudolf Dassler were from a small town in south Germany called HERZOGENAURACH.They began to produce athletic shoes in their mothers washroom in 1920. First pair of shoes were made for running and soccer and these were hand made using no electricity.They used parachutes and army helmets to produce the shoes. They got credit when athlete Jesse Owens won 4 gold medals for track and field events at the Berlin Olympics who used their shoes. But in 1948,the brothers decided to separate after a bitter feud & during the later years they never spoke to each other.

Rudolf started his rival firm PUMA, on one side of the town,while Adi went on with a new company called ADIDAS. The bitter rivalry between the brothers divided the town into two where people split to work for them. Even during their death times they never spoke to each other.Till today the town is divided into two by a river which runs in between the town. There was an ADIDAS butcher,restaurants while on the other side was PUMA butcher and restaurant.
