Perampalli's SunShine band: 50 glorious years

The passion and sentiments of Catholic weddings, roce, parish feasts or sad mourning of a funeral cortege has always been connected with the sounds of brass bands. Hence, brass band has always been an integral part of Catholic traditions in Mangalore.  One such brass band group which over the years has built its unique brand in and around the coastal region is Perampalli's SunShine band.

The feast of nativity of Mary has been kept by the East since the early 6th Century, and was adopted by the Western Church in the 7th Century, and has been observed on the 8th September ever since. Historically, we know very little about the circumstance of Mary's birth. Traditionally her parents were Anna and Joachim, as found in the apocryphal gospel of James.
